In the October, students and mentors began conducting preparatory work at Battle field at Fort Circle Park. This included a comprehensive surface survey of the site, photography, and photogrammetric mapping. Aerial ground penetrating remote sensing will be conducted in November with soil scientist from the USDA. The main objectives is to determine the periods represented at the site, to ascertain as best as possible the size of the site in different periods, and to determine whether it would be possible to easily access the War of 1812 periods on the site. This will to serve as a background for the planning of future excavations at the site.
