FIELD SCHOOL  CURRICULUM FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

 
Fieldwork School Students Excavating Artifacts
 This program is a joint effort between Benjamin Harrison Society and the Smithsonian Institution’s, Department of Anthropology, National Natural History Museum, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and ESRI to promote effective mathematics, geography, science and technology for students and to enhance the abilities of capable STEM teachers in K-12 schools worldwide. The program offers hands on geography, engineering, archeology, reading, and science Fieldwork School Project called "I DIG History."  I DIG HISTORY features working professionals who captivate students with accounts of life in science, mathematics, technology, geography and history.  I DIG History---students preparing to build their own careers and/or college majors---respond to this glimpse of the “real world” with course evaluations like these.  I DIG History is offered each school year.  Phase I begins in the fall --students typically meet five hours on Saturday for six weeks  and Phase II  begins in the winter--students meets four hours for ten weeks.
