THE BENJAMIN HARRISON SOCIETY
 

OUR VISION AND MISSION

The Benjamin Harrison Society mission is to educate and excite learners about cultural resources, geography, mathematics, sciences, engineering, agriculture, and technology.  Our mission also promotes geographic literacy and geospatial information technologies (GIS) for students to ensure geography education.  The Society is dedicated to presenting exhibitions and public programs, and fostering research that reveal the dynamism of history, its preservation and influence on the world of today  The Society engages a broad range of people in American history through initiatives which enliven and illuminate the past and future.
 
1)  Teach student’s geography geospatial information technologies which use local, place based contexts.
2)  Teach students to conduct geographic and scientific research through real world experiences.
3)  Strengthen schools and local communities by providing a resource that encourages networking and capacity-building.
4)  Promotes quality science teaching, enhance teacher confidence and classroom excellence, and improve teacher content.

5)  Promotes preservation, conservation and restoration of historical buildings and monuments, knowledge by providing professional development and mentoring support to early-career science, social studies and geography teachers.
6)  Create awareness in classrooms and communities about the significance of agriculture in our everyday lives.
